Laura & Brett | California Redwoods State Park Wedding
October 27, 2018
Brett + Laura’s wedding was tucked in the Redwoods of Northern California. They invited all of their close friends and family to celebrate with them and created special activities and moments that reflected their life and love!
One of my favorite moments was when the best man pulled a prank on the groom! We told Brett it was time for the first look, to see his bride for the first time that day. But when he turned around, instead of Laura, it was Brett’s best man wearing a wedding dress! Everyone was dying laughing and Brett’s expression was priceless. It was so so funny!
Another unique touch to their wedding day was they were very conscious of the environmental impact the day was going to have, so they were intentional about only using things that were recyclable and reusable!
I asked Laura and Brett what they thought about their special day and here is what they had to say:
What was your favorite moment of the day?
Laura: There was this moment during the reception after all the speeches and everything was done. I looked around and saw all these people that we love, playing games and enjoying each other's company. It was exactly what I wanted. Everything came together so nicely in the end.
What advice would you give to other couples planning a wedding?
Brett: You can't plan for everything. Be willing to be flexible, especially as you get closer to the day.
Laura: First, question traditions. Not all traditions make sense for everyone. Get rid of the ones that don't mean much to you and fill in the gaps with things that do. Your wedding will be a better representation of the two of you that way. Second, make very detailed lists, well in advance of the wedding, to distribute to everyone helping the day of. It is much easier for people to be helpful and let you focus on the day if they don't have to keep coming to you for information.
